Brenda Ferguson (July 9, 1959 – March 23, 2015 ) was always intrigued by hands and the stories they tell. One Hundred Hands was a shared artistic endeavor involving a series of 100 paintings. It was an opportunity for you to provide the images she painted...and a chance for Brenda to capture a moment in your time. On this blog she shared your images, the paintings they inspired and the process of creating them. She invited "you to join me, creating art together, hand in hand."

Family Jewels #037

Jana sent in this image of her and her family. She writes, " This is a photo from my niece's wedding this past summer. For our family weddings, we make a bracelet for each female family member." Cool tradition, huh?

Beauty Girl #036

Mary-Jane sent this image of Beauty Girl. I don't paint horses often, so it was a fun one to do. I hope I've captured her majestic spirit.

Relaxation #035

This is Jen. She's my friend, an ex-colleague in my past education life and one of the best teachers I know. Her mom got this painting for her as a Christmas surprise and we pulled it off brilliantly if I must say!

The Artist's Touch #033

Roger of
Rock Garden Pottery sent an image for my ongoing One Hundred Hands project. As soon as I saw it, I knew I wanted to paint it. It was a blast to paint all that slippery wet clay! If you would like to see Roger's beautiful finished pieces, please click on his link above.

Happy Days #028

Jennie submitted this photo of Happy and said, "I'm submitting a photo of our rescued Golden Retriever "Happy" with his purple collar.  All of the dogs adopted from GRRAND (a Golden rescue group in Louisville) go home with a purple collar and purple leash (as well as all shots, spay/neuter, necessary medical care, etc.). We lost Happy two years ago to kidney failure at age 11.  He truly was a happy boy throughout his life and I miss him still."

Friends #026

I was invited recently to snow shoe at Acadia National Park with my friend, Sue, and her daughter, Heather. At one point Sue stumbled (okay, so maybe she was making snow angels)and I helped her up. The cool thing about this painting is if you invert it, Sue's  helping me up. That's just how friendship works, doesn't it?

Puppy Love and Puppy Love Too #024 & 025

The dear lady, whose father is joyfully trying to contain "Piper", purchased this as a gift for her niece, the dog's owner. She soon decided she would gift herself, also. Though I was working from the same image, I wanted each piece to each be an original, so used the different horizontal /vertical formats and used different supports for each. The first painting (above) is done on Wallis sanded paper, the second (below) on a ground of Art Spectrum primer I applied myself.

Masterstroke 021

At Carol Marine's workshops, she graciously encourages participants to get close. I took full advantage of this opportunity to soak in everything Carol was saying and doing. Any closer and my nose would have been touching the canvas! I also had my One Hundred Hands project in mind. This is Carol doing a just happens to be the painting I came home with.

Catch of the Day 014

I loved this amusing photo. It shows fishing off a wharf in Whitianga, New Zealand. The baby fish is a Trevally. It was released and is hopefully now swimming around as an adult.
